Air ²

Το εγχείρημα (project) AirSquared είναι το αποτέλεσμα της έρευνας και άσκησης των καλλιτεχνών Marion Konstantines Araka και Holy Moustache.Εμπνευσμένοι από εναν στίχο δοσμένο απο τoυς πάπυρους της Νεκράς Θάλασσας που ανακαλύφθηκαν στο Κουμράν το 1947, (Dead Sea Scrolls) που σε ελληνική μετάφραση αναφέρεται ως εξής.''...και εις την στιγμήν μεταξύ της εισπνοής και της εκπνοής κρύβονται όλα τα μυστήρια του Απέραντου Κήπου...'' ξεκίνησαν ένα ταξίδι γεωμετρικής αποκωδικοποιήσης της αναπνοής δίνοντας ιδιαίτερη σημασία στις δύο ξεχασμένες φάσεις ανάμεσα στην εισπνοή και την εκπνοή δηλαδή το κράτημα και την άπνοια.
Προσεγγίζοντας ολιστικά την λειτουργία της αναπνοής και των επιδράσεων της στη φυσική, πνευματική και ψυχολογική τους υπόσταση και εξισώνοντας χρονικά τις 4φάσεις (εισπνοή-κράτημα του αέρα-εκπνοή-άπνοια) προσπάθησαν ν αποδομήσουν τον μηχανισμό της λειτουργίας της αναπνοής και να τον χρησιμοποιήσουν ως ένα ισχυρό εξισορροπιστικό εργαλείο.
Για ένα μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα υπέβαλλαν τους εαυτούς τους σε μία αυστηρή πειθαρχία καθημερινής άσκησης της ισόχρονης τετράγωνης αναπνοής την οποία εφάρμοσαν μαζί στον ίδιο χώρο αλλά και ατομικά. Θέλησαν έτσι μέσα απο την έρευνα αλλα και από το προσωπικό βιωμα να δημιουργήσουν μια 'κατάσταση' για το κοινό. Οι επισκέπτες-συμμετέχοντες θα προσκληθούν να βιώσουν μέσα στο καλλιτεχνικό πλαίσιο μιας οπτικοακουστικής διαδραστικής εγκατάστασης τα οφέλη της Τετράγωνης Αναπνοής στην ζωή τους.
Η εγκατάσταση φιλοξενείται μέσα στο χώρο τέχνης και έκφρασης Holy Room, μία ολόλευκη αίθουσα η οποία παραπέμπει σε μινιμαλιστικό 'ναό'. Σε ένα μέρος του χώρου θα κατασκευάσουμε ένα μικρό τετράγωνο δωμάτιο, το 'Ιερό των Αναπνοών΄.Ο επισκέπτης θα καλείται να ακούσει κάποιες οδηγίες απο εμάς κι έπειτα θα εισέρχεται για 35λεπτά στο κέντρο της εγκατάστασης για να βιώσει μια συγκινησιακή οργανική εμπειρία με τον εαυτό του.
Ένας απο τους κεντρικους πυρήνες της σύνθεσης της εγκατάτασης είναι η οπτικοακουστική και οσφρητικογευστική σχεδίαση η οποία δημιουργεί ένα μικροεικονικό περιβάλλον ώστε όλες οι αισθήσεις να συμμετέχουν και να υποβοηθούν αυτό το εσωτερικό ταξίδι.
Η οσφρητική σχεδίαση αποτελείται από ένα μείγμα αιθέριων ελαίων και η γευστική σχεδίαση από ενα μέιγμα βοτάνων που έχουν ώς στόχο την ενεργοποίηση των πνευμόνων και την νευρομυική χαλάρωση η οπόια ειναι απαραίτητη για την επίτευξη της απαιτούμενης βιωματικής ηρεμίας. Για την μουσική επενδυση της εγκατάστασης επιλέξαμε μια σύνθεση ηχητικών συχνοτήτων ικανών να ενεργοποιήσουν την συγκέντρωση και την αυτοθεραπεία.Το βίντεο που θα προβάλλεται μέσα στην εγκατάστση θα βοηθήσει τον συμμετέχοντα να συντονιστεί με το ρυθμό της τετράγωνης αναπνοής.


Ο Σκοπός Μας:
Το AirSquared ειναι μια οπτικοακουστικοσφρητικογευστική τετράγωνη εγκατάσταση σχεδιασμένη και μελετημένη ώστε να δημιουργει την αίσθηση ηρεμίας και αυτοπαρατήρησης.
Σκοπός του εγχειρήματος μας είναι να ενεργοποιήσουμε τις ενυπάρχουσες συνειδητές και υποσεινήδητες δυνάμεις του επισκέπτη και να του προσφέρουμε μια έντονη προσωπική και διαδραστική εμπειρία 35λεπτών αυτοσυγκέντρωσης. Με την πρόκληση-πράξη αυτή, σε βάθος χρόνου, ο συμμετέχων θα μπορέσει να ανακαλύψει πώς η τεράγωνη αναπνοή λειτουργεί στο σώμα, στην ψυχολογία και στο πνεύμα του έτσι ώστε να αποφασίσει αν θα την εφαρμόσει καθημερινά στη ζωή του.

 "what you see is not what you hear" 

The video is the result of her personal research into associationism. Having as theoretical platform the school of Plato and Aristotetle, and subsequently the school of John Lock,she will try to express her thoughts with specific visual material, sowing it onto the audio material.An experiment with a beginning, a middle part and an ending which she intentionally wanted to last exactly 8minutes.The narration follows a specific acting plan, to be as neutral and flat as possible-with a very narrative outlook. This is actually her first project using digital media and is about her way of connecting her thoughts on a daily basis, including our anthropological-sociological-existential-metaphysical-political-humanistic nature .

Dichotomies

                                                                      

from the Greek dichotomia (divided): dich- (form of dícha, in two, asunder); tomia- a combining form meaning cutting, incision, excision of an object.


The Greek mythology of Taurus the bull is basically a story about God Zeus who transformed into a white bull to seduce Europa who was the Phoenician Princess. Europa was said to be the legendary beauty as per the ancient myths. Europa was the daughter of the Phoenician King known as “Agenor”. God Zeus couldn’t resist the stunning beauty of Europa and extremely fell in love with her. He first tried to approach her directly by expressing his feelings and love for her. But this didn’t impress Europa and so she denied his proposal. So God Zeus was completely turned down and unhappy about the failure. So he decided to transform himself into a white bull with golden horns so that he could impress Europa in either way.

The Greek mythology of Taurus the bull further narrates that Europa went to fields with her friends to pluck beautiful flowers. When plucking the flowers, the God Zeus appeared in front of her in the form of a white bull and started charming at her. She became so amazed and stunned that she couldn’t resist and this made her so crazy that she went and sat on the bull. This made the Taurus the bull so happy and crazy that he immediately rode her to the island of Crete by swimming across the ocean. After reaching the island of Crete he revealed himself in his actual image. He then started presenting plenty of stunning magical gifts such as necklace that was made by the famous “Smith Hephaestus”, talos which was a giant man made of bronze to protect the island Crete, laelaps that was a master in hunting and a javelin that never missed its target. She was so impressed and daunted by his gifts that she fell in love with him. They then decided to get married to each other and hence Europa who as a princess before, now became the first queen of Crete. The Greek mythology of Taurus the bull also says that Europa finally gave birth to three sons named as Minos, Rhadamanthys and Sarpendon. Minos was said to be the future king of Crete, Rhadamanthys became one of the three judges of the dead and Sarpendon was said to found the Greek city of Miletus in Asia Minor.

The Greek mythology of Taurus the bull also narrates that in the olden Greece, the bulls were treated as a sacred to Poseidon, who was a Greek God of Oceans and Storms. The bulls were also sacred to Dionysus who was a Greek God of Male Fertility. There are also other Greek myths related to Taurus the bull. Another Greek Myth says that Taurus represents the white bull that ranked the well-known Minotaur, whose mother was said to be the wife of King Minos of Crete. The bull was presented to the King Minos as a sign to their successor to the throne. The Greek mythology of Taurus the bull also describes Taurus the bull of a powerful pair of brazen-hooves bulls that could even breathe fire and thus appeared to be immortal.

The Concept:

As the ages turn into timeless moments i chose this costume,this musk to capture the mobility of time. Just like Zeus transformed into a white bull to seduce Europa i transformed into a male/female creature to seduce my audience.

Mary's Video Room

                     
Mary's Video Room is a site-specific video installation and performance.
Mary is 24 years old and lives on the top floor of an industrial building in Central London. Her room is full of monitors that play her videos. The videos are a footage-collage from her daily life and surveillance from other people's windows as she was filming while living in the flat. For one night she invited some unknown people to her room and created a situation in which she was involved.Jean Paul Sartre's 'Nausea' was the starting point for this installation. An existential approach to the urban way of living.

Kitch in terms of low-tech aesthetics and set,the popular and consumer culture of positive repetition is celebrated here.
